Not going home yet

Things were going well yesterday.  They pulled the tube after lunch.  This morning I was supposed to get out of the hospital but the X-ray showed a little bit of air.  So they ordered another X-ray for early afternoon which showed its continued to progress and the lung collapse is getting worse.  So I'm staying and going back to the lab for another chest tube.  They will then turn me on to heavier suction and give it some more time to stick.  She said if they get this soon they shouldn't have to do the talc again.

Just pray for my lung and attitude.  Thanks for all the cards, visits, and prayers.  We feel them and appreciate it so much.

  1. We will continue to pray for God's presence to surround you and for His healing touch to your lung. So thankful you enjoyed a special anniversary celebration despite the circumstances. God's name be praised as surely He must be so touched by your determination to do just that. Our love, Dave and Kara

  2. Another test, another trial. Praying for you and also realize your situation is a teaching tool for us all. How quickly I can mentally throw up my hands in despair at much less significant issues. We all need the prayers of those we love. In Him, Beth S.

  3. Derek and LeAnn,

So sorry to hear the lung is still problematic -

Remember what we talked about Sunday... Is 61:1... the Spirit of the Lord is upon me - He hath anointed me to preach good tidings, he sent me to bind up the brokenhearted and to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (not direct quote)....

I pray (fervently) for your physical healing - but I also pray that as the verse above promises.... that the spirit of the Lord is upon you, and that it enables you to get "outside" your own body, and proclaim to those who visit you the LIBERTY they can find within Jesus, and throw off the shackles that hold them captive(spiritually), and open the prison doors they find themselves struggling behind.

Sometimes it is only when we are going through an experience that causes us to throw off all of our earthly cares and possessions, that we can find the true blessings of God - His presence, His grace, and His perfect understanding of where we are and where we are going.

Again, Derek, I pray for your body - but I pray so much more for your mind and your spirit, and that you are able to find the grace to use this special time in your life to reach those who can't be reached... to teach those who are unteachable, and to bless your beloved family, who love you so much.

I hope to see you soon before we go to Magdalena - not sure when quite yet...

    Love In Christ - Dean
